Can These Bones Live?
The Miraculous Story of What can Happen
to a Church that Follows God's Vision
by Joshua A. McClure
Listen to a live reading from the book
Is time running out on many churches today? Does the alarming and depressing knell of church doors closing foreshadow the inevitable demise of the contemporary church? In his new book Can These Bones Live?, author Joshua A. McClure addresses the serious problem of the thousands of stagnant, declining, churches in North America. Pastor McClure writes with passion and verve in recounting the miraculous story of what can happen to any congregation willing to (re) discover its first love.
With eloquence and unfettered conviction, McClure reminds his readers that today s church can once again be as vibrant, pulsating and energetic as the early church. Can These Bones Live? should be required reading. God s affirmative answer for today is, Yes! These bones can become living persons again.

God's Vision of Ministry
Joshua A. McClure, Pastor of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church, Westerly, Rhode Island, has written a book that addresses the critical question of the many stagnant and declining churches in North America today. McClure gives an inspiring and moving, account of the faithfulness and determination of God to revive His church. Can these bones live? describes how God's vision of ministry to His people ignited this small nondescript church in Westerly to become an explosive, growing dynamic ministry that indelibly transformed the church the community and the people it was called to serve.
About the Author:
Joshua A. McClure is a man with an ardent love for Jesus Christ and His church. His personal observations of the stagnation of the church, coupled with God's prodding, compelled him to share what happened when God made His presence known to him in a vision in December of 1976. At that moment God revealed His heart, and called him to leave his comfortable home and business to become His hands and heart for hurting people. McClure's passionate love of Christ and people resonates throughout his writings and life. He lives in Bradford, Rhode Island with his wife Ida.
Endorsements for Can These Bones Live?:
In Can These Bones Live? Pastor McClure writes with the heart of a shepherd and reminds us that a truly successful ministry is one that celebrates its humble dependence upon God at every step. In this day when all too often vision is little more than a marketing slogan, Pastor McClure reminds us that true vision must come through discerning prayer that peers into the very heart of God. Equally strong is his reminder that God-given vision certainly results in a ministry that focuses on the "least of these" and the "widows and orphans" in our midst. Reading this book is a good reminder that in God's plan, faith calls us out of self and into the world with ministries of mercy.

Can These Bones Live? is both informative and challenging as it chronicles the personal and congregational biographies of pastor and people who seek to embrace the vision that God has provided. One can readily sense the ministry of the Spirit as one is invited not only to share a journey with others, but also to engage in a personal journey of renewal and transformation. Can These Bones Live? is a must read for all who are serious about effective ministry in this 21st century. Only God knows the impact this work will have upon this generation and generations yet to come.
